Poplarville Farmers Market features fresh produce and other locally sourced products, as well as books by members of the Picayune Writers Group. (first and third Thursday)

I’ll be attending the Southern Christian Writers Conference in Tuscaloosa, AL.


Saturday, June 3, and 17

8 a.m.-noon

Members of the Picayune Writers Group will have books for sale at the Picayune Farmers Market, 2710 Highway 43 South (Goodyear Baptist Church parking lot), Picayune, MS.  (first and third Saturday of the month)


Tuesday, June 6

6:30-8 p.m.

Poplarville Storytellers Guild meets in the Methodist Youth Building of Poplarville FUMC at 708 Julia St., the corner of S. Julia and W. Magnolia Streets. Come to listen, come to tell. There’s no charge and the food and fellowship is free.


Friday, June 9

6-8 p.m.

The Poplarville Storytellers Guild and local bands kick off the 2017 Blueberry Jubilee with story and song. Join us for the introduction of the 2017 Blueberry Court. The free outdoor event takes place in a lot near Mississippi Power on S. Julia St. in Poplarville. Bring your chair or blanket. In the event of rain, we’ll move to the Methodist Youth Building of Poplarville FUMC at 708 Julia St., the corner of S. Julia and W. Magnolia Sts.


Saturday, June 10

9 a.m.-noon

As part of the Blueberry Jubilee, Poplarville Storytellers Guild will be sharing stories in the Methodist Youth Building of Poplarville FUMC at 708 Julia St., the corner of S. Julia and W. Magnolia Streets. Cool off in air conditioned comfort before resuming your Blueberry Jubilee activities.

Saturday, June 10 - Just Added!!

6-10 p.m.

I'll be signing books at a benefit spaghetti supper for Joe Gaines of the Po Boys Band. Joe has been diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer and is unable to work. I'll be donating from the sales of my books to the benefit fund. Come on out, enjoy some great homemade spaghetti and meat sauce ($5 a plate, with to-go plates available) to support a great cause. Get some books for your summer reading pleasure and help a terrific guy fight a nasty enemy. There will be music and a parade of prizes, too. At Honey Island Fish House, 65583B Pump Slough Road, Pearl River, LA (Exit 5A from I-59, behind Riverside Travel Center)

Picayune Writers Group meets in the Community Room of BankPlus at 115 Williams Ave., Picayune, MS. Membership is open to published and unpublished authors in all genres. Come to learn, come to grow.

11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Book signing at Faith Christian Book Store, 1337 Gause Blvd., Slidell, LA. (down the parking lot behind Copeland’s). I’ll have my two newest releases available, as well as earlier works. You’ll be impressed with the recent expansion of this wonderful store.

1-3 p.m.

Creative Minds Writers Group of Ponchatoula meets at The Art Station, 146 W. Oak St., Ponchatoula, LA. Writers of all genres are welcome.


Thursday, June 22

11 a.m.-noon

I’ll be leading a “Building a Memoir” workshop at the Senior Center of South Pearl River County, 45 El Patch Parkway, Picayune, MS (behind WalMart). If you’ve wondered how to start, here’s your chance. Bring paper and pen to create your own memoir roadmap.


Saturday, June 24

9 am.-4 p.m.

The Third Annual Mystery Writers Conference, hosted by the New Orleans chapter of Sisters in Crime, will be held at the East Jefferson Parish Public Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie, LA. Free admission. Bring your lunch or purchase food on the premises.

11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Gulf Coast Writers Association meets this month at the Pass Christian Library, 111 Hiern Ave., Pass Christian, MS. Authors in all genres and guests welcome.

Visitors welcome as the members of the Poplarville Storytellers Guild share tall tales and reminiscences. Bring your own stories to share, if you have them, or listen to ours. Have some snacks with us and enjoy a family friendly evening.
