Mr Clarence SEE

I am a Year 2 undergraduate student, studying medicine at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. I am very privileged to join Prof Guan’s laboratory under the Undergraduate Research on Campus (URECA) programme. As part of this programme, I would be studying the lipid profile of Klebsiella pneumoniae, in hopes of using this information to identify virulence factors specific to this bacterium. Antimicrobial resistance is a major healthcare concern that is only likely to worsen significantly in the future. Hence I am greatly interested in gaining a better understanding of bacterial virulence through this project, as this is an enemy I would be encountering frequently upon my graduation. Furthermore, I look forward to having a better appreciation of scientific research as the basis of developing relevant clinical applications through this project. Above all, I would be most delighted if my efforts could eventually aid in the battle against antibiotic resistances in the healthcare setting.
