Join Line Dance with Ginger and Lark Line Dance
for TWO line dance flash mobs on Saturday, May 2!
Flash mob #1 will take place at 1 p.m. sharp at the Friendly Toast in Bedford, NH, on their outdoor lawn. They are in the Market and Main plaza by Trader Joe's.
Flash mob #2 will take place at 3 p.m. at the Merrimack Outlets in front of the food court. We will do the three flash mob dances and then dance the playlist below till 4 p.m.
There will be NO rain date. In the event of rain, Bedford will be canceled. Merrimack is still possible, as there's a roof over the outdoor part of the food court, but that will depend on just HOW rainy it is.
There is no charge to participate, but we do encourage participants to donate a dollar or two (or more!) to the Line Dance Foundation, which is the organizing force behind this INTERNATIONAL event.
To participate, feel free to just show up, but we'd love it if you would express your interest by signing up so we can notify you if things change.
THE PLAN
Please learn the three dances all flash mobs around the world are doing.
Dance 1 - Hoedown by Gary O' Reilly
Dance 2 - Heel Toe Rodeo by Gary O'Reilly
Dance 3 - Everybody Dance! by Ben Murphy and Sascha Wolf
At the start time, music starts playing, and a few people start to dance to it. Gradually, more and more people join in. Midway through the song there will be a whole large crowd dancing together. The last dance is very easy, so we will invite the audience to join us.
When do you join in? Folks whose first name starts with the letters A-F should join on the first wall of Hoedown; G-L on the second wall, M-R on the third wall , S-Z on the fourth wall . We are arranging spots for each group to meet up for the Friendly Toast, since it's a difficult spot to look like you're just shopping or hanging out. At the Merrimack Outlet, we recommend getting there early and be window shopping or enjoying a snack in the area just before it starts. Once the music starts playing, join in! If you come in at a time other than what we assigned, don't worry about it! By the fourth wall of Hoedown, we'll all be dancing and just having fun!
MORE TO KNOW
What to wear - Lark and I would love it if you wear a Lark or Line Dance with Ginger T-shirt if you have one. You could even buy an official flash mob T-shirt! Footwear should be whatever you think will work best on astroturf at The Friendly Toast and patio stone at the Merrimack Outlets. Leather soles are probably a good idea.
With first flash mob, that's the official time the vast majority of people around New England are doing this. Given the location, we're just doing the three dances. We encourage friends to join in! They can dance or take video.
The second one is really an unofficial flash mob. The Merrimack Outlets wanted some line dancing as entertainment. We figured why not do the three flash mob dances again and add in some extra dance time since they wanted an hour's dancing.
We DO plan to videotape and publish the video of both flash mobs, so be aware of that.
