Something Good (1990)
["Something Good" mentions good attitudes and principles that should not disappear, while also pointing to negative practices that threaten the world.]
There are, in life, beautiful things that should not disappear
There are good rituals that should not come to an end
But the personality of human beings is plagued by paradox
It has a tendency to do good, and a tendency to do the very worst
An ancient battle that still rages on within us
The forces of light and those of darkness each pull us in opposite directions
Some days the good prevails and other days evil prevails
But there's one truth from which there's no escape
CHORUS: Facing every rotten thing there's something good
There's something beautiful in response to everything ugly
Good men should stand like a mountain no wind can move
The time will come when only what's right will take place
In his daily life, a human being must remember
That he faces disgusting reality from which he can't disguise himself
Among all people, there's not one who's free from all wrongdoing
Some are concerned with their pockets, others with their bellies
And some are constantly sharpening and wielding their swords
Of such men good intentions are not to be expected
And in this age, when the globe of the earth is filled with hatred
There is a piece of wisdom in which we take solace
CHORUS
Each of us answers to their own God
And most would run and hide at the sight of their God
But who, other than the Creator, can know and understand us?
And according to Holy books, be willing to reason with us
All that's asked of a human being is to think straight
And treat others as he would have them treat him
And give to the needy, and be humble and do good deeds
And be perfectly sure of one thing
Facing every rotten thing there's something good
There's something beautiful in response to everything ugly
Good men should stand like a mountain no wind can move
The time will come when only what's right will take place
And facing everything dirty there's something clean
Every sad thing is equalled by something funny
And a truthful man is above a deceitful one
And a genuine thing replaces something fake
And facing everything "kikh" is something "dehh"
"Kikh" and "dehh" are among the first words babies are taught,
the former meaning bad, the latter good.
They are, however, strictly baby words, and are not included
in the dictionary.
