This was the largest audience to which I played, reported to be around six thousand. I am sporting a woolen shirt designed by dear friend and established clothing designer, Loulwa Abdel Baki, whose designs bear the name "KALABSHA".
Nice lights. Again fortunate to have Jack Gregg on bass. Our repertoire consists of Rock, Funk, and Bluesy material, and Jack played those Rock riffs and Funk grooves on acoustic bass and it sounded great.
Samir "Roi de Blues" Atiyyeh behind me, and the divas on the wing.
Like I said, I've no formal training on the "Oud", and the instrument does require years of practice to master - but I have a feeling for the Blues and I try to express it on the "Oud" because it lends itself to the music.
The orchestra at repose. From left: Akram, Sumaya, Jumpin' Jack, the Dragon himself, Ghazi, Katia, Nada, and Samir (How did he get inside that blue shawl?).
