For car owners who’ve been around cars as long as car dealership chain owner Jeff Lupient has, it may be possible for them to identify car trouble just by listening to the car while driving. Long-time serious car owners have developed an acute sense of hearing when it comes to their cars, a sense that Mr. Lupient deems necessary for all motorists.
Take for instance the sound the engine makes. There is a regular cadence to it that when slowed down may mean problems with the battery, alternator, or starter. Any of these parts may need checking, lest the motorist be caught dead in his tracks in the middle of nowhere.
Squealing or grinding noises when a driver steps on the brakes is a big problem as well, which Jeff Lupient states should be attended to as soon as the driver sees a shop where they can have the brake system checked. Brakes are tied directly to safety and always need to be kept in optimum working condition.
Car owners can also hear vibrations that may seem unusual. These vibrations may point to problems with the tire alignment, transmission system, engine, brake rotors, or calipers. It may also mean that the car itself is running low on its vital fluids such as oils.
Jeff Lupient always urges car owners to have their cars checked if they sense something wrong. A single visit may save the car owner a whole lot of trouble.
Jeff Lupient is the president and CEO of the Minnesota-based firm Lupient Automotive Group. He went to college at Hamline University, where he obtained a degree in political science.
