It’s not as though we can predict where and when our cars will sputter and break down. Sadly, such sudden issues could arise when we’re miles away from help. The good news is that with a little bit of preparation and foresight, we can keep certain things inside our car’s trunk to help us quickly get back on the road, says MN-based car enthusiast Jeff Lupient.
One is a first aid kit to deal with minor wounds that could be incurred from an accident. This serves motorists in good stead while waiting for the arrival of help. In fact, most countries require having one in people’s cars. Another is a spare tire. Even though most newer vehicles do not come with a factory spare, we should go the extra mile and get one, if we are to ensure that we get to cruise to a mechanic in the event of a flat tire.
Jumper cables are essential. Having batteries go dead is a fact of motoring life. We should likewise pack some flares and hazard triangles, just in case we get into a vehicular accident or our car conks out at night.
Keeping a tire pressure gauge and a jack is also mandatory. They’re not only affordable and take up little space but give us peace of mind when taking long trips. In fact, make it a point to check your tire pressure during little stops for gas during extended journeys, Jeff Lupient advises.
