Tampopo

Tampopo is a film directed by ITAMI Juzo about a ramen shop owner in the Tokyo area. It parodies a number of film styles but is most reminiscent of a Western film in which a hero (Goro) rides into town to save the day. Goro and his friend Gun assemble a group of people with different talents to help Tampopo improve her ramen and eventually make her shop the most popular in the area. Throughout the film, there are also a number of vignettes depicting how other people choose to enjoy their food, ranging from etiquette lessons gone awry to an elderly woman puncturing produce.
