Sanshiro is a novel by NATSUME Soseki. It tells the story of Sanshiro, a country native who has just started school at the University of Tokyo. Readers see Tokyo through Sanshiro's eyes - a bustling city yet slightly confusing place to be. His interactions with women - Mineko and Yoshiko in particular - cause him much puzzlement. In the course of the novel, Sanshiro becomes good friends with fellow student Yojiro and Professor Hirota, who give him advice on how to live and learn.
