Membership Report - Hari
Susan and Hari made calls to several retirees but none of those contacted is interested in joining the Steering Council. Susan will contact Sam Roberts who recently retired. At least one new member is needed to share responsibility with Susan for coordinating the Seminars. The cover letter for the upcoming mailing will address this again.
Donna will again include Retiree Club information in the September IBM community newsletter for employees about to retire.
Treasurer's Report - Norm
The current account balance is $2032.17. The Fall Golf Outing will be subsidized by $1 per golfer.
Retiree Database and Membership Registration Report – Mary Ann
The Retiree Data Base has 778 entries. Five new retirees were added since June. Only a few entries don't have addresses for the upcoming mailing. The mass email distribution list in VerticalResponse is up-to-date with 577 email addresses.
Website Report - Jim for Harry
For April thru July, the website averaged about 200 visits, 150 unique visitors, and 425 page views per month except for April, after the last mailing, which had 269 visits, 180 visitors, and 631 page views. One new member posted on the Discussion Group feature.
Seminars Report - Susan
The Elder Law Seminar held on May 11 was successful with over 30 attendees and an average rating of 4.8 out of 5.0. The Financial Seminar is planned for either October 13, 19, or 20. The format will again be a 3 person panel: Finance – Michael Penny, CPA – Stephan Miller, and Estate Planning – Joshua Keleske. The Finance and Estate Planning topics will be emphasized.
The Medical Benefits Seminars are scheduled for Tuesday November 9. Room 539 (both sides) will be scheduled all day. The format will again be 3 seminars: Medicare eligible retiree and spouse, Medicare eligible retiree and non- Medicare eligible spouse, and round table for both retiree and spouse non-Medicare eligible. This year, the seminars will address Future Health Accounts for newer retirees and potential retiree impacts from the new Healthcare reform legislation. Hari and Jim have been cooresponding to representatives of the Rochester and Orlando IBM Retiree Clubs who are interested in providing Medical benefits education to their members this year.
Volunteer Council Report - Mary Ann
The E-Mentoring program at Tinker Elementary has been very successful with 30 children and 30 mentors last year. More mentors are needed this year.
Golf Outings Report- Donna
The Spring Outing May 7 at Plantation Palms Golf Club was successful with over 50 golfers participating. The Fall Outing will be held October 1 at East Lake Woodlands Golf & Country Club. Golfers will be required to register by September 17. The Retiree Club will subsidize $1 per golfer and $1 per golfer from selling Mulligans will keep the cost down to $57 per golfer. Dianne will email Norm with details on providing the deposit for the Outing.
IBM Community Picnic - Donna
Retirees are again invited to the IBM Community Picnic this year. The picnic is tentatively planned for October 23 pending availability of Spirit funding. It will be at Mary Help of Christians again this year which has wonderful facilities for adults and children. Last year, retirees paid cost which was $15 per person. This year retirees will again attend at cost which should exclude any fixed costs. Donna will check with Stu Bean on attendance and cost for grandchildren. Donna is preparing a “Hold the Date” flyer for the upcoming mailer and the picnic will be addressed in Hari's cover letter. The mass mailing targeted for the end of September will include flyer and registration form which will also be posted on the itbrc.org website. With more advanced notice, it's hoped for a better retiree turnout this year. Those that attended the picnic last year thoroughly enjoyed it.
Social Events - Hari
A Day at the Races event is tentatively planned for next Spring. Judy Manowitz has agreed to coordinate the event. She'll be invited to the next Steering Council Meeting in January 2011.
IBM Club - Donna
The Entertainment book is available from Donna for 2011 for $25,

Mailing
The next mailing will include: cover letter from Hari, flyers and registration forms for the Fall Golf Outing and Finance and Medical Benefits Seminars, and “Hold the Date” flyer for the IBM Community Picnic. The materials are to be completed and sent to Lee through Hari by 8/23 with stuffing on 8/30. A mass emailing will follow no later than 10/1 to include flyer and registration form for the picnic. The Club currently has a credit of 539 emails with VerticalResponse which will expire on 10/1 if not used.
