There are currently 775 entries in the database (up 5 or 6, but 3 or 4 dropped off due to deaths. Susan will review the membership database to see if there are retirees she recognize and will contact those to inquire if they are interested in joining the steering committee. Volunteer Council Report - Donna
Janell has information on the ODC (On Demand Community) site for volunteers needed at EPCOT for a three-day period, 4/13-15. It is in conjunction with e-week. Can volunteer any of the days. Will receive free parking, free admission, lunch and a t-shirt. Will need to arrive by 8:30AM and should conclude around 4:30PM at which time volunteers can enjoy the park for the remainder of the day. Retirees will need to register on the ODC if they haven’t already. Donna will ensure Harry gets information for the ITBRC website posting.
Donna is coordinating volunteers for the Child Abuse Council’s 5K Race on 5/1. Volunteers need to arrive at 5:30AM and will be finished around 10:30AM. She will send the information to Harry to post.
Website Report - Hari
Volume in February lower than January, but January got a lot of hits due to seminar registration. Harry Schaffhauser doing a fantastic job of maintaining the website and posts new items very quickly.
Social Events Report – Meeting Attendees
Donna advised that most likely there will not be a “joint active/retiree” picnic this year due to Stu Bean may not be receiving “Sprint” funding this year. It was decided that the steering committee will look into coordinating a picnic in 2011.
It was voted to work on a “Day At The Races” event for 2011. Hari said that possibly Judy will volunteer to coordinate it.
Donna will look into a possible Retiree Group Night at a Rays game for 2011.
Seminars Report – Susan Gryzbowski
The Income Tax Seminar went very well; 28 attendees (up from last year). Every registration came from the website; no phone call registrations were received. Very positive feedback; rating was 4.6 out of 5. Everyone wants Doug House and Paul Hauser to return. Handout was helpful. About 1/3 of the session was Q&A.
Plans are underway for an Elder Care Seminar in May; preferable the first week. Will contact speaker, Susan Haubanstock, to inquire when she is available.
For this year’s Financial Seminar, feels we should look for a different speaker and include an update on retirement planning. Looking at late September, early October.
The Medical Seminar will need to be mid to late November as everyone needs to have time to receive their benefits package for the following year. Hari stated that the seminar will be difficult this year. Both Hari and Jim will again be the speakers.
Decided to not attempt a seminar for Technology for Elders or do a seminar regarding hurricanes.
Golf Event Report - Dianne Hartt and Donna Fryza
The golf outing is Friday, May 6 with registration at Noon and a 1PM shot-gun start. We will need help that morning with registration, etc. from 11:30AM through 1PM. We will be using a new handicapping system so golfers will be able to play from the tee box they normally play from. Dianne needs a $500 deposit from Norm by 3/29. Hari phoned Norm at the meeting and he will mail the check to Dianne and she will hand-deliver it to the golf course. A detailed flyer and registration form documents are ready and Dianne will send them to Hari for the mailing. They’ve added a dessert which is $ .75 more per golfer, but we will take that cost out of the money collected for mulligans.
IBM Club Synergy - Donna Fryza
No new items are currently being offered or sold. Donna mentioned that she continues to update the “Florida Discounts at a Glance” document and always forwards the updated file to Harry to post on the ITBRC website.
