President's Letter
Dear Members,
Most of you live in Central Florida, and
of course are already aware of the
misfortune we’ve been through:
Orlando’s worst hurricane in history.
I’m glad to say I’ve not heard of any of
our members with too many serious
problems. I lost my beautiful 35-foot-tall
orange tree; it was uprooted, and it had at
least 200 green oranges. I personally planted the tree 30 years ago!
I’m looking forward to September’s meeting and just know that the first half-hour will be talking about each other’s storm experiences. I’ll no doubt have to break that up and get us busy with our critique session. Can’t wait to hear what great songs people have written since last meeting.
Long-time Orlando writer Rose Koogler, now living in Ohio, has been awarded first-place for lyrics in a national contest. We certainly want to congratulate her. Let’s hope we soon hear her song “The Spirit of the Sea” on a record label. Rose misses us and says “hello” to everyone.
I’m looking forward to Sunday; I love the critiquing! I get excited just like you when we’re hearing your compositions for the first time. I want to congratulate you all; our critiques have been terrific lately. Please don’t be hurt when someone suggests a way to make your song better. Such critiques could make the difference that turns your song into a hit!
See you Sunday,
Russ Robinson
