Much is still not known about Project Aithre, the mission that defeated Erebos. Although the project was reportedly a great success and gained much public praise for the newly created GDF, many details still remain classified. Here is what is known.
A few Xenians approached those in power in Messembria, having escaped from Elysia and come to find those who might be able to defeat Erebos where they could not. With their aid, the GDF was created and began to collect Geodes, which had been scattered across Hemera following the opening of the Dimensional Rift. This technology helped the GDF adapt the Messembrian military's prototype power armor so that it would draw energy from the Geodes, thus creating the Aithre Armor that was later operated by the heroic Alpha Team. Another group, Beta Team, was in charge of the Rift Generator, a machine created using Xenian technology to open another dimensional rift and thus force Erebos to leave Hemera. The two teams intercepted Erebos in the Eunom Desert, 22 days after it had first appeared in western Elysia. It required the sacrifice of most of Alpha Team and many members of Beta Team as well, but the rift was opened and Erebos vanquished.
The operators of the Aithre Armor that made up Alpha Team were later introduced to the public by their code names (Golden Hare, Avenging Blade, Cerulean Camel, Mind Singer, Titanium Wing, Clockwork Warrior, Unforgiving Gun, Crimson Razor, Argent Wyvern, and Mystic Victim), though to this day no one knows their true identities. It's said that most of them were killed in the battle, but how many survived, and who, remains a mystery.
Project Aithre was carried out under the command of the first head of the GDF, General Farrah Nejem. She was succeeded in 876 HE by General Mason Moreau; General Nejem went on to become commander of the Messembrian military, a position she holds to the present day. General Moreau was in turn succeeded by General Emma Tsukino three years ago in 879 HE, for reasons unknown.
