Yerelia consists of the northern and western reaches of Boreas. To some, Yerelia is a paradise of pristine wilderness, beautiful mountains, sparkling lakes, winding rivers, and tundra and fjords in the north. To others, it is an unforgiving waste, difficult to farm or traverse and far from centers of civilization. There is a very Borean mindset that loves living here, however, and its inhabitants make their living by hunting, fishing, cutting timber, and fur-trading. The wilderness is considered something to be protected, and most frontiersmen and women are very ecologically minded. There are even a few religions here that focus on respect for the land.
Cities are few and far between, and there are only a few of any major size. Two of these are Cheimon, on the northwest coast, which is quite cold and icy but thrives as a mining town due to the vast deposits of precious metals found nearby; and Thauma, a beautiful but remote city that is considered a hidden treasure by those that live there, in a much milder climate than most of Yerelia. It is difficult to reach, however, and its most frequent trade and visitors come from Elysia, which maintains a hyperloop tunnel under the ocean to Thauma. A large number of goods are imported from Elysia, in exchange for precious metals and raw materials.
Major rivers include the Diamond and Opal rivers, running east and west respectively and feeding the Diamond Lake in south and Opal Lake in the north. The Thaumas River runs southwest to the crossing to Elysia, and the Evans Glacier can be found in the northernmost parts of Boreas.
