Elysia is filled with fertile farmland, particularly in the south, southwest, and northwest parts of the continent. The western and northern regions are marked by dense rain forests, while verdant plains surround the central cities of Idyll and Carpeia.
Major cities:
Carpeia – A major seaport and the capital of Elysia, Carpeia is the site of the President's Manor and the Legislative Hall. It is a center of trade, with many manufactured goods flowing through the city. Since the Atlas Ocean is far from the Andalus Isles, sea trade and travel are not as regulated here as they are in waters that Andalus controls more directly (although Andalus may claim that all the world's oceans are their domain). Thus, Elysia has a thriving shipping industry with its neighbors, at least when it is not at war with them.
Escavel – A well-maintained hyperloop tunnel travels beneath the sea to Messembria, although in wartime it has historically been blockaded. However, Escavel remains a primary transit point for travelers and trade, although there is also a large military base just outside the city, the largest military center outside of Carpeia itself.
Eden – Eden is a tourist town, a balmy, pleasant location on the edge of the Sea of Eden with a pleasant climate and a number of luxury resorts.
Idyll – While the name implies a city of recreation and relaxation, Idyll is also a manufacturing and artistic center, known for its fine textiles and other well-made goods.
Troli – The major transit point between Elysia and its neighbor Boreas, Troli deals in a lot of trade, exchanging manufactured goods for raw materials from the Yerelia wilderness. It is a center of cultural exchange and quite a cosmopolitan city.
Theros – A seaside resort town away from the bustling metropolis cities of eastern Elysia, Theros boasted of its beautiful beaches, tropical flowers and foliage, wide variety of recreational activities, and a rich local culture. That all changed when the dimensional rift opened up to the southeast of the city, and much of the local flora and fauna were devastated by Erebos, the city practically leveled by dimensional storms shortly afterward. Most of the surviving inhabitants of the region have evacuated, though a few still stubbornly hang on, trying to rebuild what they can.
Southport – A fairly remote city, Southport is nevertheless well-connected to major transportation lines and is a frequent destination for academics and professionals. It's a major source of intellectual exchange as well as commercial trade, and free from the more touristy influences of much of the rest of Elysia. It's also the most peaceful location in Elysia, since it connects by undersea hyperloop tunnel with Auxesia, with whom Elysia has been at peace for most of Hemera's history.
Major rivers: The Eridanos flows east towards Carpeia, and is joined by the Leton River in the north. The Tanais River flows east from the mountains and feeds the Sea of Eden, a popular tourist resort. The Kaystros River flows northwest to the Theran Delta, the Hebros River flows toward the central west coast on the Andric Ocean, the Carambucis River flows south past Seaport, and the Istros flows northeast to Troli, passing through the Istran Sea before tumbling down Isis Falls.
Erytheian Mountains: Also known as the Mountains of Mist to locals, these mountain peaks are cool and misty and filled with mysterious rumors and mysteries, including a great deal of plant and animal life native to Hemera. Local legends are many, and superstition abounds; an entire mythology has grown up around these mountains and is considered a part of the local culture shared with enthusiastic tourists.
