Extending between the Oreith and Yerel mountain ranges in south central Boreas, Isunia is a region with fewer urban centers than Dynicia, but it is still divided into holdings that are efficiently run by their respective aristocrats. Most of these nobles live in Isunia, but journey to Kion at least a few times a year to participate in the Council and the aristocratic social season. They are generally quite attentive to the needs of their holdings, especially since it is much easier for residents of Isunia to pick up and head west to less regulated lands, if they do not feel they are being treated well by their nobles. While Isunia has rich farmland in the south, the entire region is known for artistic craftsmanship, particularly woodworking.
Major cities:
Donn – the primary hub of trade and shipping in Isunia and a major economic center
Ivir – a coastal town and popular tourist destination, also famous for its fine vintages of Borean wine
Fenway – site of an annual horse and livestock fair, with awards and competitions in sheep herding, racing, canine agility trials, and more
Rainward – a university town and the education center of Boreas, supported by aristocratic patrons who encourage their citizens to pursue knowledge and the arts in addition to working the land
Calth – though by some to be a fairly backwoods place, on the edge of the western forests
Major rivers: The Kalais River flows southeast toward Donn, and is joined by the Zetes River from the north. The Rain River flows south from the Yerel Mountains, and is fed by the Red Rock and Calthan Rivers.
Yerel Mountains: These mountains are just steep enough to make traversing them difficult, with no hyperloop access through the mountains and only treacherous highways through mountain passes. However, avoiding them by traveling north brings travelers into the area between the two mountain ranges, where winter storms sweep down from the northern latitudes. This is one reason that only the most hardy tend to travel to Yerelia.
