"Amanda works hard to know the students by name. She has a very pleasant personality to be around.
She does a great job in connecting well with middle schoolers."

Recently I was able to participate in my first parent teachers conferences at the middle school where I am student teaching. It was a great opportunity to meet the parents of some of my students. The first thing I did when meeting with my 8th grade History student's parents was say something positive about their child. All of my students have many positive aspects about them so that was easy. When the parent was concerned about their child's grade and wanted to know what was wrong, I was ready with a print out of all of their assignments and what was missing. I never talked down to the parent, I just tried to come up with ideas on how I could help the student do better. By staying positive the parents were very enjoyable to work with.
Below is an example of a postcard that I sent to the 7th and 8th grade girls who attended my first Girls Intramural Volleyball practice.
Below is a letter that I sent home with the middle school girls that were interested in the Volleyball program that I ran while student teaching at Bothwell Middle School.
BMS Girls Intramural Volleyball
TO ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS:
My name is Ms. Hagerl and I am currently student teaching under Mrs. Moyle and Mr. Jajich. I will be offering Intramural Volleyball on Sundays from 6-8:00 pm in the Bothwell gym starting Sunday, January 24th and ending on Sunday, March 21st. Please make a note that there will be no volleyball on Sunday, March 7th due to the BMS Bonanza basketball tournament.
My goal for the program will be to allow each of you the opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport of volleyball in a safe, and non-competitive environment. The purpose of the intramural volleyball program will be to provide structured play experiences, as well as many different drills and activities that work on serving, ball control, setting, and attacking. This will be your time to work on these volleyball skills and play the game in a fun, relaxed environment. No experience required, just an interest in the sport and be willing to try and have FUN!
I am excited to share my skills and abilities with you. I feel that I have much to offer since I have experience as a player, coach, and an official.
You will need to return the bottom of this letter signed from your guardian in order to be able to participate, and don’t forget athletic shoes! I look forward to working and playing volleyball with all of you starting Sunday, January 24th at 6:00 pm.
SEE YOU the 24th!
