The only thing I need to do in life is breathe to stay alive. I do this without thinking about this. I learned to think about breathing in 2010, 2014 and in 2020.
When I started yoga, I had lots of difficulty with dizziness. I had to learn to breathe different so I could do the exercises. It wasn’t about my condition, because I played tennis and hiked. It was about using less air and relax in breathing.
Talking to a mental health peer I learned that he was using breathing to relax and be calm. It was interesting, because the yoga I had under control, but I was angry that I couldn’t travel further and had to be in The Netherlands. To let go of this anger I started using the Buteyko Method. It helped in combination with yoga and hiking.
The lockdowns of COVID-19 forced lots of people to rethink their life. I was one of them that had to become creative again in my business. The year before I just said no to some projects and had a plan, but the lockdowns were against those plans. I couldn’t meet with my clients anymore in public spaces to work on their WordPress website or give a workshop Excel. By hiring a coach to rethink my business I again came in contact with breathing. This time it wasn’t about relaxing, because I was doing that the good way. It was about accepting the lockdowns and transforming my business by adapting fast and keep adapting.
For breathing it is important to have clean air and I started noticing that with the first lockdown the air was so clean, because everybody was at home and the traffic was less. The sky was beautiful and the air fresh. In our 24/24 hour society I keep adapting and the pollution is back after the lockdowns. I am learning to breathe more through my nose then through my mouth. There is still place for improvement there, but the relaxing and adapting for my business is there!
Long Fonds is 2d quarter 1 percent ngo of Databeet in 2022, because they are promoting fresh air and non-smoking. This means that from each 100 euros I earn, 1 euro goes to this ngo. This is one of the 17 sustainability goals the world must reach in 2030, health and health education for everyone!
