My spv’er recommended me to do some yoga to get some rest in my life. It was a match make in heaven, I loved yoga immediately. At first it was hard to follow everything, because I got dizzy. Although I played tennis and hiked a lot it was too much at first.
I was following Hatha yoga in my neighborhood. I got my breathing under control and also my body. I stayed following yoga lessons with the same teacher for almost 2 years. I stopped with her, when I became a digital nomad and went to Asia & the Pacific. I asked her for tips on yoga I could do during my travels and got lots of information I could take with me.
On my trip through Asia & the Pacific I did lots of yoga on the beach. I wasn’t the only one. I sometimes finished my yoga rituals when others started. And during hikes in the evening to watch dolphins there were also others doing yoga.
I was looking for some sport in Bali and found a free diving class with yoga in Amed. I was on a break from Australia, a must if I wanted to stay longer in Australia. The yoga was easy and the free diving on land exercises were breathing exercises, it was a good practice. The only thing that didn’t go well was the free dive in the sea. I got nauseous swimming. A bit strange for someone, who can swim and dive. Later when I was planned to leave Bali, I learned that there was a volcano eruption nearby so that could explain the rough sea and my nausea in the sea when free diving.
In Ubud I hiked and went to a yoga center. I asked at the yoga center for a yoga class. It turned out to be power yoga and not a Balinese yoga on the day I could. It turned out perfect, because I was the only one in class and the teacher was so happy, she could give a yoga lesson that I did all the Hatha yoga positions in rapid speed. I had to ask her for a break once and while. I got them, but she had no mercy with me. I was tired after the class and decided to stay on the beach for the last part of my journey in Sanur, Bali.
After getting back from New Zealand I did some Hatha yoga at my old yoga school and some Ashtanga yoga at another yoga school. At the Ashtanga yoga school I swapped yoga for painting her marketing bike.
Another good yoga experience was in Mexico, Rio Largatos. I went to a retreat there for a long weekend and did some Ashtanga yoga on the beach and near the water. It wasn’t only yoga. There was laughing meditation, supping and greeting the full moon. There are a few blogs about my experience at the retreat.
*The pictures are from a good photographer who was also at the yoga retreat.
