I arrived at the hostel with my own private room with safe on the island Holbox, Mexico. Immediately thought it would be useful for my money and passport. It looked like any other vault, so I put everything in it, entered the code and closed it. Testing, no, apparently, I don’t do that, is for experienced travelers …!
A minute later I realize that I have not taken out enough money. I key in the code again but nothing happens. Large PANIC of course! I went to the reception and asked in Spanish if they could help me to open the safe. I got the answer the safes are not there to use, but I have already used it I squeaked.
One of the employees walks along and tries to get it open in vain. He then remembers that there are keys somewhere. And goes down and comes up with a bunch of safe keys. The second fits and opens without a code!! I am happy and may have the key for as long as I am staying, but I am not so sure anymore that I want to use the safe anywhere anymore ………
At my co-working space I have a locker like students use in the library, visitors of archives use when going through files from the past or museum visitors use. I put my key in my pocket and go to the toilet. A bit clumsy of me, but the key falls into the toilet and flushes away. I had a full day of office work planned but my plans changed. I was going to go through keys looking for the spare key of my locker. Each time more keys came from somewhere none fitting. Finally my last options of keys were handed to me, and I was lucky one fitted. I gained back entrance to my locker. Lesson learned, I don't match with lockers, or I should not go to the toilet with my keys. Which one is fitting me best I don't know yet.
