Before I Was Big

On Curaçao where I was born and mostly raised I did not have a general practitioner, because of my sister's illness. We always went directly to a pediatrician. When I arrived in The Netherlands in 1997 to study I had to arrange a lot but it never occurred to me to look for a family doctor.

In Lunetten I Looked For A Dentist And A Family Doctor

In 2000 when I moved to Utrecht Lunetten I looked for a dentist and a general practitioner. I called the general practice and I became a patient there when he told me he had seen me pass by his practice when doing groceries in the mall. I stayed with this family doctor till 2009 without ever meeting this general practitioner. I was very happy with this family doctor. He was a 'vrijgevestigde' family doctor.

Moving From Lunetten To Nieuw England And Changing Family Doctor

Saidly I had to say goodbye to my general practitioner, because I was moving. I was appointed a female family doctor at Gezondheidscentrum Lombok. Lombok was across the street from Nieuw Engeland, Utrecht where I moved to. I never met her till 2010. It was very busy at this 'Gezondheidscentrum' that my general practitioner outsourced a time consuming treatment I had to had to a 'huisartsenpraktijk' in Utrecht Overvecht once. She died in 2015. I was without a family doctor again.

I Did Arnhem Without A General Practitioner

From august 2016 till February 2017 I lived in a luxurious anti-squat. Everything was new and I was the first one living in the studio. The only catch was, it was a short stay contract. The plan was to renew the whole apartment complex to very expensive apartments. I left in February 2017 to Eindhoven to live in a loft without finding a family doctor in Arnhem.

A Family Doctor Practice Without A General Practitioner

From February 2017 till August 2019 I lived in a loft in Eindhoven. I found a family doctor practice between my apartment building and the Philips Stadium. The family doctor practice was without a general practitioner due to shortage of family doctors. They sometimes could arrange a family doctor on Tuesday or Thursday, but not all Tuesdays and Thursdays. It was a surprise if there would be a family doctor there or a nurse or I would be called to reschedule.

The Family Doctor That Was Appointed To Me And Didn't Want To Be My General Practitioner

In August 2019 I moved back to the Utrecht region, Nieuwegein. I asked one of the family practices in Nieuwegein if I could become a patient there. They said yes and appointed me a female general practitioner. I made an appointment to meet her and she told me she couldn't be my family doctor, but stayed my family doctor till June 2022. I wasn't happy with this general practice and went looking for a new family practice.

The Hybrid Family Practice

I met my new general practitioner and got an app. It was a hybrid family practice. I could become a patient there if I could get along with his colleagues. This was back in June 2022. Now April 2024 I think I am going to look for a new family practice not because I am moving or my general practitioner died, but because I get along with him but not with his colleagues.
