Here's an official SGI page about timings... Apparently the EDID-information is a bit stricter than necessary... http://techpubs.sgi.com/library/tpl/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?coll=hdwr&db=bks&srch=&fname=/SGI_EndUser/O2_FP_Adpt_IG/sgi_html/ch02.html

OTOH, that page claims 50Hz refresh is possible, and my experiments showed that it only goes down to 58Hz, reliably. (This is *probably* a factor of the VGA-to-LVDS converter, rather than the display...?)

Here's one of the earlier mentions of using a VGA-to-LVDS converter as a possibility. Again, it seems posts to these forums dwindled dramatically since these came 'bout, so I'm assuming somewhere someone figured it out.. http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15150&view=previous

Here is the official Owner's Guide in PDF: http://techpubs.sgi.com/library/manuals/3000/007-3869-004/pdf/007-3869-004.pdf

Here is the official "openLDI" specification. The 1600SW is pretty much the only display that actually uses this spec. HOWEVER, it departs from it in SEVERAL ways. The pinout is just one. The display does *not* support "DC-balanced" signals (thus the display IS identical to dual-channel FPD-Link. That's FPD-Link, NOT FPD-LinkII NOR FPD-LinkIII). The display does NOT handle any resolution other than 1600x1024 (openLDI says it should). https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/informatik/RA/news/stack/kompendium/vortraege_99/peripherie/standards/lvds/openldi.pdf
