Online communication

FGSO maintains two systems to facilitate communication among graduate students

FRC listserv

What is it?

First and foremost it is a way to communicate amongst SFRC’s Forestry and Geomatics Majors.

Use it to:

  • Organize a social or professional event for FRC grads
  • Ask for course recommendations or tips for navigating grad school
  • Share job postings or funding opportunities
  • Spread the news about forestry related events and seminars on campus or around town
  • Invite your peers to your own seminar!

Who can use it?

Everyone (who has received this email)! Just send your message to SFRC-FRC-GRAD-L@LISTS.IFAS.UFL.EDU. Remember, senders don’t receive the listserve email so cc yourself.

Who does the listserve reach?

All current Forest Resources & Conservation (FRC) Graduate students. This includes Geomatics, but not Fisheries. If you want to email ALL SFRC grads (Forestry, Geomatics, and Fisheries) you can use SFRC-GRAD-STUDENT-L@lists.ifas.ufl.edu, and your email will be sent after moderator approval.

Guidelines:

  • Avoid long email chains! Provide your personal email for follow-up correspondence, unless the reply pertains to all, which it probably doesn’t.
  • Remember all of your fellow students will see these emails so please be respectful and adhere to basic internet etiquette.

Wait, but there are two SFRC grad listservs. I am confused...

Hopefully this will clarify it for you:
