Register for the Spring Symposium!

Graduate Student Symposium - Friday April 10th

Pre-register now for your poster or talk with this link

Remember the email you received last week about the SFRC Graduate Student Symposium? Here's a little reminder!

Each year SFRC hosts a Spring Celebration. Friday March 10th will be the second annual Graduate Student Symposium at the Austin Cary Learning Center. The purpose of this symposium is for graduate students to share their research interests and projects with their peers, faculty and staff of the Program of Forest Resource and Conservation. All Forestry and Geomatics graduate students are highly encourage to participate by presenting a poster or a short oral presentation. Lunch and snacks will be provided!

Wondering which is right for you or you? Here are some recommendations:

- Poster Presentation: 1st year MS AND 1st/2nd yr PhD students

- Oral Presentation: 2nd year MS AND 3rd/4th year PhD students

NOTE: If you do not have results to present, posters describing your proposed work or preliminary results are absolutely fine and encouraged. This is an opportunity to let others in your department know what you are working on and get valuable feedback.

Pre-register for the symposium here!

Pre- Registration – Indicates:

1.) You want to volunteer and help behind the scenes (see list below)

2.) You desire to showcase your research via a Poster Presentation

3.) You intend to submit an abstract for an Oral Presentation

For questions or to volunteer immediately, contact FRC GSS Chair, Derek Allen derek.allen @ ufl.edu

Tour the local bio-energy plant

Take a tour of the bio-energy plant in Gainesville on March 18th or 19th

Ever wonder where your electricity comes from? You can find out by joining the Forestry Graduate Student Association (FGSO) on our visit to the Gainesville Renewable Energy Center for a private tour! You will learn about electricity generation using biomass, and meet the awesome people that make it happen.

If you are interested, please respond to Todd Bertwell (tbertwell @ ufl.edu) and your preference for a visit Wednesday, March 18 or Thursday, March 19. Spots are limited, so respond soon!
