Rationale
As it was my first year at De La Salle High School it was important for me to connect, on a professional level, with my colleagues. I readily sought guidance when in order to clarify policies and procedures with regard to student actions. This reminded me that there is a caring support network at the school that is available to me should the need arise.
I was also asked to take lead on our bi-annual Diversity Week school-wide celebration and examination of issues of diversity and inclusivity at De La Salle High School. I obliged and worked together with other adult moderators in shaping the week including extending a formal invitation to Brother Ernest Miller, FSC, to join our community for the week.
I also volunteered to help with our community transition toward Schoology, our new learning management software. Because I am comfortable with using technology, I offered to act as a resource for my Religious Studies department colleagues.
I committed myself to being a part of no less than 5 committees during the course of the 2014 – 2015 school year including (1) diversity committee; (2) time use committee; (3) grading and assessment committee; (4) social justice committee; and (5) prayer breakfast committee. I wanted to share with my colleagues what I had learned in 12 years of teaching by working collaboratively and creatively on these committees.
