Rationale
I hold several earned undergraduate and graduate academic degrees in the fields of Jazz Studies, Music Education, and Liturgical Studies. I am certified to teach in the State of California having earned my Single Subject Credential and I undertook teacher education in British Columbia, Canada. I am currently working on completing an additional masters degree in Lasallian Studies.
As a committed lifelong learner, after the conclusion of my work in Lasallian Studies, I plan on continuing formal studies in Counseling Psychology or Educational Leadership.
My aim is to bring together the informal life and educational experiences I have gained through travel enrichment, professional networking, and participation in various formation and development opportunities, along with my formal studies and previous teaching experience, for the benefit of the students entrusted to my care. This broad palette of knowledge and ways of knowing are all brought to bear in the way that I organize and sequence my lessons. Finally, I continually keep abreast of developments in all of these fields in order to ensure that I am current with curriculum and pedagogical practices.
Through my continuing work and research in Lasallian Studies, I have read extensively the Catholic Church's documents related to education, and I am thoroughly familiar with the US Conference of Catholic Bishop's 2007 document entitled "Doctrinal Elements of a Curriculum Framework for the Development of Catechetical Materials for Young People of High School Age."
