Hello reader. Thanks for stopping by. This book is meant for
those who wish to advance further in their language studies of
multiple languages. It will not teach you what you don't already
know, so first, visit a proper npc teacher to get started with
the basics.
It is possible to TM a language beyond 90 levels, though that is
like most things in life through persistence and determination.
Also reading a primer or speaking with another 90+ level speaker
or native speaker of the non-native language helps immensely.
My skills at the time of this publication:
Language............ [spoken]..[written]

Using this book:
Easiest way is to create an in-game (or mud client) alias, such as:
speak agatean;open book to page 5;read book;open book to page 6;read book;open book to page 7;read book;speak morporkian
-or, if you're extra crafty-
speak agatean;open book to page 5;read book;speak brindisian;open book to page 8;read book;speak uberwaldean;open book to page 23;read book;speak morporkian
The latter alias only works if you are working on those other
languages after having learned the basics from an npc teacher.
Page 2:
The known language npc teachers are as follows:
Ankh-Morpork (local language: Morporkian):
. Nearly fluent Morporkians can learn Agatean in Little Agatea
. Native or fluent speakers of Morporkian can learn Ephebian at
the Ephebian Embassy on Widdershins Broadway
. Native or fluent speakers of Agatean can learn Morporkian in
Little Agatea (westside of AM)
. Native or fluent Uberaldean speakers can learn Morporkian
at Vanya's shack on Tobacco Road
Bes Pelargic (local language: Agatean):
. Bes Pelargic Language Institute - read the time table for
beginner, advanced, and intermediate levels. Classrooms for
native or learned speakers of Djelian, Ephebian, Morporkian
or Uberwaldean are here.
Djelibeybi (local language: Djelian)
. Djelibeybi language school (northeast corner of bazaar)
. Morporkian, Ephebian, or Klatchian speakers can learn Djelian
. Native or fluent speakers of Djelian can learn Klatchian at
the school
Ephebe (local language: Ephebian)
. Native or fluent speakers of Djelian can learn Ephebian at the
Ephebian Embassy in DJB
. Native or fluent speakers of Morporkia can learn Ephebian at the
Ephebian Embassy in Ankh-Morpork
Genua (local languages: Morporkian, Brindisian)
. Brindisian speakers can learn Morporkian at Mamma Filomena's
bakery in Little Brindisi
. Morporkian speakers can learn Brindisian at the same bakery
Klatch (local languages: Djelian, Klatchian)
. Native or fluent Djelian speakers can learn Klatchian at the
DJB language school
Uberwald (local language: Uberwaldean)
. Non-native speakers must learn this via quest
. Native Uberwaldean speakers

Where to hang out, idle, and TM spoken languages:
Some places are better than others. And others are more
accessible to those who can freely travel (i.e., witches,
wizards, and priests).
Agatean: The Salt Shaker in Ankh-Morpork (there's a flat
with Agatean children), get followed by Ryattenoki, Tuna Walk,
Dragon's Head Square, Thousand Parades Square, and any shop
or stall where the npc shopkeeper responds to browse and list.
Brindisian: Any of the shops in Little Brindi in Genua
Djelian: the priests in the DJB Palace, at the prophet (SE
bazaar corner), any shop where the npc shopkeeper speaks
when 'list' or 'browse <item>' are used.
Ephebian: bars and shops in Ephebe, the Oasis
Klatchian: Tacticum Ruins (get here from the DJB carriage),
at the Laughing Falafel restaurant in Ankh-Morpork (at the
intersection of Dimwell and Soake)
Morporkian: The Mended Drum bar (inside), The Job Market
(on God Street), the Assassins Guild courtyard, or Plaza of
Broken Moons.
Uberwaldean: shops in Unnamed Town (much safer than Escrow,
no vampires here), Escrow market square (during daylight
hours, at night go to the bar on the sw side of the town).

Learning Tips
. soap crayons (from the bath shop in Creel Springs):
Use these to scribble messages onto other players, npcs, and
pets. The more you scribble or the longer the message, the
faster the crayon gets used up. If you forget to put your
crayon away and it gets damaged, you can 'fix' it at the the
thief guild launder room in Ankh-Morpork. Soap crayons wash
off eventually with enough water, sweat, rain, or a bath.
Some people find great amusement in scribbling on linkdeads.
. Sprite Caverns or Grflx Caves:
Get a pamphlet from Constable Visit in the Pseudopolis Yard
Watch House and tell him you want a pamphlet. Reading it will
enlighten you (and others in the room) with religious fervor
and you'll start spouting the word of Om. This is good and bad
for adventuring in either of these places as there are auto-
attack npcs in both. However, the entrance room for the Sprite
Cavern usually has no sprites in it.
. read a primer, dictionary, newspaper, or write on labels
with your own text and 'stick' them to yourself, items, or
onto others. A roll of 50 labels can be bought from most
stationary stores.
. nothing fancy needed for written TMs by writing, just paper
and a writing implement like a quill, pen, pencil or crayon.
Page 5/6/7: Agatean
Sometimes referred to as the Counterweight Continent, Agatea,
or Bes Pelargic, most tourists will come to this port city
for its glorious sights as well as its many pubs and street
food eateries. I recommend staying away from the thousand
year old eggs. Those can cause quite a disturbance in the
force of one's stomach harmony.
The extra (fool)hardy will take to the shores of Tuna Bay and
swim with the fishes and sharks with hopes of finding pearl-
bearing oysters. Likewise, punching your hand into a bucket
of sand at the martial arts dojo might hurt at first but
if you do it enough, you'll realize that beating up the dojo's
students is far more entertaining.
There are two shifty men in Bes Pelargic. One is on Tuna Walk
near the docks and the other is on the street approaching Tang
Bay on the upper northwest side of the city. Weapons permits
are scaled in price by the age of one's character. The younger
(by days played) you are, the cheaper it is to buy a permit.
Prices range from 10 rhinu to 75 rhinu.
Page 8/9/10: Brindisian
Much of the law of the fine city of Genua is scaled to how
much crime you commit within its walls. Stealing and shoplifting
are minor offenses and hardly get a raised eyebrow from the
city guards. However, mass murder of named npcs and its
citizens will earn you the ire of the law and guards will
be more inclined to attack you on sight.
The layout of the city is much like Ankh-Morpork, where it
is circular in design. The most amusing tourist activities
to do in Genua are seeing semaphores click and clack at the
Clacks Tower, battling your way past angry crocodiles the
sewers to get to the Kick Consortium, raising pets into
the undead, and gambling all your hard-earned livres away
at the Casino or Racetrack.
The jobs available here don't pay much, except some reputation
towards (or against) the crime families or towards the city.
Earn enough of a bad reputation and you can gain entry to
certain areas of ill repute. Earn a bad reputation with the
crime families and you may have to watch out for Coffee Nostra
Hitmen.
Page 11/12/13: Djelian
The law enforcement of criminal activity in Djelibeybi is most
noticable by the number of cries for help from the young and
old alike who find themselves no longer able to climb out of the
crocodile pit. Heck, you can't even drown in it anymore. Killing
cats and priests will get you tossed in here.
And, the change is that you need grappling skill to move
past the reeds. In the event that you don't have this skill,
there are three alternative ways to get out: idle to earn
enough idle xp to teach yourself some levels of grappling,
use a blue crystal ring of recall, or burn a life and
godmother out.
Did you know that in the right season, fresh fruits like
melons and figs can be harvested just outside Djelibeybi's
city gates? Garlic can also be gathered as well. Just don't
let a garlic farmer see you doing it otherwise he'll get
really mad.
Page 14/15/16: Ephebian
For a long time, it was hard to learn spoken Ephebian since
the only viable place to do this was the Oasis and xp chasers
would always raze it to the ground. Now, there is a whole city
of Ephebian speakers in Ephebe, which is located near the
Chronides Farm just a ways south of Djelibeybi.
Ephebe is like any city steeped with ancient and barbaric
practices and rituals, not excluding sacrificial offerings
to their gods and capital punishment by death by criminals
of the murderous kind. There is a bronze stele near the capital
building that will show you what tier of violence you have
committed against the city. The top tier incurs the punishment
of death where hoplites and citadel guards will attack you on
sight.
Probably the most noticeable feature of Ephebe is its lack of
any sports or tournament fields, and yet the streets are filled
with scantily clad athletes gleaming with muscle oil. With its
many shops and stalls, Ephebe is a shoplifter's paradise. The
only punishment for theft in this fine city is an increase in
shop prices. It's not much of a disincentive for those inclined
to the five fingered discount.
Page 17/18/19: Klatchian
This is a rather obscure language in the Klatch region with
little to no value outside of learning it for the sake of
learning. One word of warning, however, is that if you are
practising the spoken word in the Tacticum Ruins, do not
'consider' 71-hour Ahmed. He's very leery of such insolent
behavior and will attack.
Not a whole lot of knowledge exists about how the language
came to be, who the real Klatchians are other than pirates
and seafarers who have made the desert region of Klatch
their home. Few Klatchians have settled outside of Klatch
in Ankh-Morpork, most notably Notserp, the family at the
Laughing Falafel restaurant in the Soake, the guards
outside the Klatchian Embassy on Speedwell Street, and Kompt
de Yoyo, a sasswot guild storyteller.
Even fewer signs exist in Klatchian. It's best to just make
your own scribblings and read those instead. While it hasn't
been researched other than by observation while learning,
you should write and read what you write at various stages
of your learning progression while tossing earlier writings
as you become more advanced in a language.
Page 20/21/22: Morporkian
This is one of the easier languages to learn, as there are
many npc teachers in different cities and many players speak
it as their native tongue. It's true that quest and custom
shop npcs won't understand what you're saying until you attain
60 levels of spoken in Morporkian.
.
Easiest guild to access if you're not of that guild: Ankh-Morpork
Thieves Guild. It has a lot of features that are very adventurer
friendly. Its most notable features are Nicolette's shop for
ordering swank custom clothing, Sol the jewellery fence, and Jim
the fence of just about everything else.
There is a nice bathtub and a dart board in the basement. Don't
forget to check out the gazebo nestled deep inside the members-
only part of the guild and visit Dr 'Dr Mr MD' Nimgimmer who
can set broken legs.
.
Making money with the city of Ankh-Morpork is fairly simple, as
there are many streets for searching, plenty of general stores
for selling looted items to and plenty of murderous mayhem by
fellow adventurers. There are also quests ('syntax quest') if
you are so inclined.
Page 23/24/25: Uberwaldean
It's rumored somewhere that scumble is the fabled drink of
the one who can teach you this guttral-sounding language.
You should travel lightly, be able to swim or float on top
of water, and be able to do this repeatedly to learn it.
If you happen to get yourself slain by werewolves or vampires
in or around the town of Escrow at night, you should wait
until sunrise when those cursed beasts turn back into the
humans they pretend to be during the day. This will make it
significantly easier for a Pishite priest to ressurect you.
For language primers and other fine goods such as xp hotspot
rose rhodonite rings, gp lights, grflx armours, and fairly
priced T-shop or Moonlit Market items, please visit the
Midnight Pantry pshop in Ohulan-Cutash. Custom items can be
made to order as well, directly with Pterrific pteh Pterrible.
