Intro to Scribing (for pshops):
1. Get some packets. Tiny or Small are the norm for player shops, mostly because these max-contain 4 scrolls. No need to close them anymore since the ability to carry x-number of scrolls is now skill-based.
2. Get a pen or quill. There's a free one in the wastebasket at the Academy of Artificers secretary office. Most pens need ink, and there is a free ink vial that can be found in the same room on the table.
3. Get the 'scribe' skill. Which can be learned at 51 levels of ma.it.sc and while you can only train it in the guild up to 50 levels, you can teach yourself one level or learn it from another player. Then ask the Lecturer of Recent Runes, who wanders in the halls at the Unseen University in AM, to teach you the command. Unlike other general skill-based commands, this cannot be taught to you by another player wizard.
4. My aliases for scribing:
alias scribe0 scribe $*$ on paper with quill;put scroll in packet;scribe $*$ on paper with quill;put scroll in packet;scribe $*$ on paper with quill;put scroll in packet;scribe $*$ on paper with quill;put scroll in packet
alias scribe1 scribe $*$ on paper with quill
alias scribe2 scribe $*$ on paper with quill; scribe $*$ on paper 2 with quill; scribe $*$ on paper 3 with quill; scribe $*$ on paper 4 with quill
-also-
You need paper large enough to hold a spell. Cigarette papers are too small for this. Use chapbook papers (30 pages per chapbook at $1/chapbook).
alias tear0 tear 4 pages from an open chapbook
alias tear1 tear page from a book
[final notes]
You cannot scribe on a paper with a scroll on it. In my first alias, see how I scribe on 'paper' and then put 'scroll' in packet.
You can buy the packets from a variety of places:
A rare corner of neatness in the Harbour Market (West end of the Harbour Market, Ephebe) for 12de
A simple makeshift stall (Appears at stall locations marked with a ?, Sto Plains) for 5p
A small item shop (North side of the Divine Flower marketplace, Bes Pelargic) for 5s
Felicity Avenue Stationers (Felicity Avenue, Genua) for 6Gc
Goldenleaf's Quality Packaging (Northeast corner of the Golden District merchants' marketplace, Bes Pelargic) for 5s
Inside a strange stall (North end of Cockbill Street, hidden entrance, Ankh-Morpork) for 5p
The "Get 'em while we still got 'em" shop (East side of the Plaza of Broken Moons, Ankh-Morpork) for 5p
A bric-a-brac stall (North side of the marketplace, Ohulan-Cutash) for Lp 3/4
Getting out of the Library
(from 'refer Liza'):
If you land in the Sto Lat library from a gap and want to get out, take the only exit listed until you see multiple exits. Then take the second exit in the list over and over until you see "study". Take that and you are out.
If you would rather get to another gap, take the only exit until you see multiple exits, then take the second exit in the list, then the first, then the forth, then the first. Now you are at a gap!
If you land in CWC while jumping gaps, you are now in a stairway maze with one exit: down. If you want to get out of the cwc library from here, just go:
d,n,e,u,s,d,s,w,u,w,w,d,d,n,w,n,e,e,n,e,e,n,n,w,w,nw,w,sw,w,s,w
If you want to get to the gap area from the advancement room in the CWC guild:
go e,n,e,ne,e,ne,ne,n,ne,e,n,nw,w,n,nw,w,s,w,n,w,w,w,s,e,s.
Once you get there, head up and wander around until you find a gap. These gaps are different from normal gaps (You won't land in L-space with a gap waiting for you). After you go through, take the perpendicular exit (if you are given right, left, and forward, take forward), then go right, then forward.
