Basic Skill Tree:
fighting
fighting.melee
fighting.melee.dagger
This skill is used when fighting with a dagger-type weapon.
fighting.melee.sword
This skill is used when fighting with a sword-type weapon. Except for the katana this means any one-handed sword.
fighting.melee.heavy-sword
This skill is used when fighting with a heavy swordr-type weapon. This means any two-handed sword except the katana.
fighting.melee.axe
This skill is used when fighting with an axe-type weapon.
fighting.melee.mace
This skill is used when fighting with a mace-type weapon. These are generaly maces and hammers.
fighting.melee.flail
This skill is used when fighting with a flail-type weapon. Flails are weapons with a chain in part in it, like nunchakus or morning stars.
fighting.melee.polearm
This skill is used when fighting with a polearm-type weapon. These are long weapons, with or without a spike/blade/weight at one or two ends.
fighting.melee.misc
This skill is used when fighting with a misc-type weapon. These are the rest of the weapons, those that wouldn't fit well in the other categories.
fighting.range
fighting.range.thrown
This skills is used for throwing things like knives at others.
fighting.range.bow
This skill is so far inactive.
fighting.range.fired
This skills is used with crossbows and blowpipes.
fighting.unarmed
fighting.unarmed.striking
This skill is used in combat when not holding any weapons.
fighting.unarmed.grappling
This skill is used when executing the commands shove and trip.
fighting.defence
fighting.defence.parrying
This skill is used in combat when holding a weapon and having your tactics response set to parry or neutral. It is also used when guarding an exit with the guard command.
fighting.defence.blocking
This skill is used in combat when holding a shield and your tactics response is set to parry or neutral.
fighting.defence.dodging
This skill is used in combat when tactics response is set to dodge or neutral.
fighting.special
fighting.special.weapon
This skill is used preparing any of the fighting commands (stab, pierce, impale, slash, slice, behead, bash, smash, crush, hack, chop and riposte). If your bonus is too low and you fail to prepare it you will be told that "You attempt to prepare a special attack but the <weapon> too unwieldy and you lose the initiative." It is also used when preparing the commands feint and beat and when executing feint, beat and iai.
fighting.special.unarmed
This skill is used with when preparing the commands shove, trip and iai.
fighting.special.tactics
You have a certain amount of action points when you are fighting. This skill (together with the relevant skills for the action) will help lower the cost of all fighting actions so that you might be able to defend or attack more. It is also used with warcry, berserk and guard commands.
fighting.special.mounted
This skill is so far inactive.
fighting.points
This skill sets your number of figthing guild points. For a warrior that the same thing as his/her maximum guild points. Fighting guild points are used with every command that use a fighting skill. An extreme combat attitude will cost some fighting gp.

Guard - for guarding an exit against a person/persons
Syntax: guard <exit> from <group/person/living>

Hack - for use in combat when wielding a weapon which support the command
Syntax: hack <living> with <weapon>

Iai - for use when initiating an attack while having one hand free and a sheathed weapon that can "slash"
