The Lands of the Nile

Embedded in the land of the Nile is the symbolic framework of Egyptian life.

The Egyptians were faced with many challenges – a very hot climate and only one water source meant that they had to be invent ways of transporting water to the land in order to grow crops for food and clothing.

They were a very creative race of people out of necessity.

The River Nile plays an important role, not only for irrigation purposes, but for travel as well.

The Egyptians used large ships to transport many goods from one part of the country to another.

Whether it was boat building or building pyramids, the Egyptians had to work together as a team.

The weather in Egypt was so extreme and the work so physically demanding there were often tensions among the workers and the engineers.

In order to keep peace the Pharaoh introduced the “Egyptian Police” who kept law and order in the land and ensured that the Pharaoh’s wishes were followed. Sometimes the goals set by the engineers were unrealistic which encourages the Cub Scout to learn how to set realistic goals for themselves.
