The Meeting Night
Arrive on time.
Spend some time to get to know each other
Find out about them -how long you've been in Scouting, what they like to do, etc.
Things that you are good at
Find out what you and your six think of the Cub Program, what types of things you would enjoy doing in Cubs, etc.
With the assistance of your Scouter, brainstorm a list of activities you would like to do.
Places, Crafts, Badges, Games
Try to keep the ideas realistic!
If you have access to a laptop and the internet, this is the time to use it!
Ensure that you introduce a few rules about using the computer first, such as one person at a time, no pushing or shoving near the equipment, etc.
Have a talk with your Scouters' to discuss the results of the Sixer/Second Council and make plans for enhancing the quality of the future Cub Program to adapt to what you would like to see.
Follow up! Make sure something is coming out of the Sixer/Second Council. Sometimes the leaders may need occasional reminders about what the Cub Scouts would like to see happening!
Set the date for your next council meeting
An occasional meeting with all of the Sixers and Seconds in the County is a good idea. It gives Cub Scouts the opportunity to discuss things that are of interest to them and to identify any issues.
