Overview:
Using pegs and sisal, follow instructions to mark out different shapes on the ground. Figure out what these shapes are supposed to be.

Hand out the following instruction sheets. The shapes described on them are as follows:

Possible expansions to the activity:
Instead of the directions provided, transform them into compass points and provide each team with a compass.

You must follow the instructions below to figure out what 4 shapes are being described. At each step wrap the sisal around the peg as you put it in the ground.
After each symbol is complete, remember it and then take everything up and start on the next shape. (It may help to tick the box on each step as you complete it).
Shape 1:
ÿ Place the first peg in the ground and tie one end of the sisal to it.
ÿ Take 3 steps forward.
ÿ Put a peg in the ground at your feet and attach the sisal to it.
ÿ Turn 135° right.
ÿ Take 2 steps forward.
ÿ Put a peg in the ground at your feet and attach the sisal to it.
ÿ Turn 90° right.
ÿ Take 2 steps forward.
ÿ Put a peg in the ground at your feet and attach the sisal to it.
What is the shape?
Shape 2:
ÿ Place the first peg in the ground and tie one end of the sisal to it.
ÿ Take 3 steps forward.
ÿ Put a peg in the ground at your feet and attach the sisal to it.
ÿ Turn 90° right.
ÿ Take 1 step forward.
ÿ Put a peg in the ground at your feet and attach the sisal to it.
