Ancient Rome

We use the Land of Ancient Rome to highlight the many layers of society and the importance of living together in a healthy, democratic and safe way. Roman Society was up of many types of peoples from market stall holders to architects to gladiators! The secret to the success of the roman society lay in their interest and ability to look after their health and well being. 

The symbolic framework of ancient Rome encourages Cub Scouts to explore and learn about the building and design achievements of the Romans which contributed to a healthy way of living. 

The Roman baths, aqueducts and sanitary systems developed by Roman engineers created a hygienic environment for the people of Rome, keeping clean and taking responsibility for one’s own personal hygiene became a way of life. 

Diet and lifestyle is also encompassed within this symbolic framework by exploring how legionnaire camps and gladiator schools were run. 

Cub Scouts can look to the fitness regimes of the legionnaires and gladiators to develop and review their own diet and physical abilities.

The Romans appreciated the benefits of choosing a healthy lifestyle.

Roman society was also a very fair society with the introduction of Forums every Roman was given the opportunity to have their say.

The Legionnaires were trained to protect the citizens of Rome ensuring the safety of Rome and all those within its walls, keeping Romans safe from harm.
