Cotswold Relay

2023 - adhoc transport arrangements only. Ask your team captain.

Previous years (not 2023):

In previous years  the club has organised transport to pick you up from the END of your leg and take you to the start of your leg. Therefore you can park your car at the finish and it will be there ready for you when you finish your run. It may be that you are sharing transport with other Harrier's to get yourself from Chepstow to the end of your leg.

The drivers have to stick to a tight schedule, so can not leave later than the specified time. If you miss it you will need to drive yourself to the start of your leg and arrange somehow to get back to it after your run. So... don't be late. Leave plenty of time for mishaps! The drivers will not be able to bale you out of trouble as it will be heading off to collect the runners on the next leg.

Make sure you leave nothing in their cars - especially not your car keys.  Make sure you either run with your car keys or leave them in a secret place (not on top of a tyre) in or near your car.

Here is the timetable for transport - Transport Timetable

Supporting each other on the day

Please note that every leg has one official water station – so you are assured one hydration point on your route. If it’s a very hot day, you may want to take some of your own sports drink with you – many do carry bottles or wear a hydration pack if it’s sunny.

If at all possible it would be great if each member doing the CWR could try and fit in time to support other runners from the club.

Perhaps the easiest time to do this is either 3 legs before your own or 2 legs after. So for example, if you're on leg 5 you should have time to drive to a place on leg 2 or maybe to a place on leg 7.

Don't try to support the leg before as you won't make it to the start of your leg (and certainly not to the minibus that will pick you up from the end of your leg)

Supporting others would add hugely to the team atmosphere and also give an opportunity for each runner to receive extra water on their leg - very important if it's hot on the leg 3 onwards.

If possible, try to support in a place other than the official drinks station. That way each runner can have a couple of drinks on each leg.

Obviously, supporting on the CWR is not as easy as the Rack Raid or Castles as it's off-road... but there are places you can get to easily at road crossings. James has produced some excellent maps that mark most of the points (be aware that the CW may have have moved slightly from these maps).
