Attending a Tasting

The club meets once a month at 7.30pm on Wednesday evenings at the Victory Club, Burlington House, Lypiatt Road in Cheltenham.

A typical tasting starts with a presenter giving background information on the chosen theme - whether it be region, grape varieties or other relevant facts. These presenters vary from club members through wine trade professionals to Masters of Wine and some of the top names in the wine world. In the last few years John Avery MW, Ed Adams MW and Mark Savage MW have all conducted tastings for us.

We taste approximately eight wines each evening that explore the theme. Biscuits and cheese are normally provided alongside the wines. The tastings aim to be both informal and informative. Everyone is encouraged to participate, ask questions and comment on the wines - but this isn't compulsory and you can just quietly enjoy the wines if you prefer.

The events usually finish between 10 and 11pm. Note that we strongly recommend that you do not drive home afterwards - or that you use the spittoons provided.
