Snowflakes Everywhere - 2

Snowflakes to display at your windows and decorate your home

  • Celebrating the snow that will be with us soon. AND the 518 Snowflake Hunt

  • We have created a few snowflake inspired crafts - this is the second one

  • This one needs 6 sheets of white paper, a pencil, scissors and glue (hot glue for speed)

This one is a little more complicated than the first snowflake craft and could easily be a star or a snowflake.

Step by Step

  1. First of all you need to take each of the 6 pieces of letter sized paper and fold diagonally to create 6 squares. Cut off the rectangle of extra paper. You can use these rectangles to make 3 more Snowflakes this way

  2. Fold all 6 of your squares back into right angled triangles and press the fold down well

  3. Fold each of the triangles again gently an then unfold. This will act as a guide.

  4. Taking your triangle as shown below. Measure out as shown. from the outer edges mark off 1 1/2 inches, then 1 inches 3 times and the same from the other side.

The fold you made in the middle needs a line 1/2 inch either side and then from the point down 1 1/2 inches, 1 inch 3 times.

Join all these lines up as shown and these will be our cutting guides. You need to do this with each of the 6 pieces of paper

5. Carefully cut along the lines on both sides of the triangles until you reach the inner line, we don't want to cut all the way through.

Carefully open out all 6 sheets and they should all look like this. --->

Now we can start assembling.

6. A hot glue gun speeds this process up of you have one and a grownup to help you, or a staple gun.

Starting in the middle gently bring the 2 cutout parts together and secure. Flip it over so this is underneath.

Bring the next 2 cutout parts together and secure. Flip it over again

1st roll, secure and flip

2nd roll, secure and flip

flipped over after 2 rolls

3rd roll, secure and flip

continue to curl, secure and flip until you have a sort of spiral of paper with 2 points. This is then repeated for each of the 6 sheets.

4th roll, flip and secure

7. When all 6 are spirals choose one end and secure 2 together and so on until all 6 are secured together at one point.

I used hot glue for speed and stuck each of the spirals together this way

Almost done

Because of the shape it will hold itself together so you don't need to secure it anywhere esle.

However, you might want to put a hole in the top and add some cotton to hang it up at the window.

It's very dramatic and no longer looks like 6 pieces of paper.

More Crafts are coming your way soon, keep your eye out and we will have more ways to collect craft-a-long packets and more in store to help you through this special year.
