A Handful of Flowers

Celebrate Springtime with our handprint lillies

This craft-a-long is simple and fun and designed for our younger children to enjoy.

You Will Need

  1. some construction paper (any colors you like)

  2. some green and yellow pipe cleaners (one green and half a yellow for each flower)

  3. Some sticky tape (green florists tape or green electrical tape if you have it)

You will also need a pencil, scissors and maybe a little ribbon to tie your bunch together for a gift.

Step by Step

take a piece of construction paper and draw around your hand

Cut it out

Take a 1 green pipe cleaner and half a yellow one and arrange in a cross

Fold each one over the other color and twist so they are firmly attached to one another. The green will become the stem the yellow will become the center of the flower. Set aside for a moment.

With a pencil curl each of the fingers of your hand cut out around the penil so they curl outwards from the hand to form the petals.

Take the pipe cleaner twist you make a moment ago and place it in the center of the hand. Wrap the hand around the pipe cleaner and tape it into place. If you have florists tape or green electrical tape this works very well. Clear sticky tape works well to.

You can make a few more using different colored construction paper for a bouquet. Tied with a ribbon these make a beautiful gift or display.
