Why I made the vessel

The solar powered boat is the result of three personal interests: travel, sustainable off-grid living and a deep and fundamental desire to acquire knowledge.

I always wanted to travel to experience more. I wanted to make a truly sustainable off-grid house but was forced to rethink it because of budgetary and building code restricitons. Last but not least: a deep and fundamental desire to use today's knowledge in a positve way, to create a world that offers more and more possibilities.

1. To travel is a way to expand the mind, to test ideas in real life, to exchange ideas and to meet with people from all walks of life. It will enable the ability to differentiate between manufactured opinions and personal opinions. To travel is to grow. And travel is best enjoyed with all comforts. Comfort is what will make travelling a permanent possibility as opposed to a vacation, where it is very possible to be without all the comfort in the knowledge that it is a temporary situation.

3. Please do take a look on for example wikipedia to the article concerning earthships. It is an example of a system aimed at giving it's residents as much control over their own lives as possible, thereby creating the personal freedom to be able to develop in any direction a person is inclined. A true off-grid house is legally not possible in the place I live and would probably have been above my budget and in such way make me more unfree instead of the goal of being more free.
4. Thirst for knowledge and wish to improve:
5. I sincerely believe it is possible to use todays technology and knowledge to improve the earth as an environment for safe and comfortable living. This implies using resources in a rate that doesn 't surpass the rate of regeneration for these resources as well as not surpassing the capacity of the environment to resequester those resources into earth's ecosystem when they are no longer used by us.

The accumulated know-how I consider to be worth spreading, I honestly think it is an improvement, a step towards leaving a better world as opposed to leaving a world with fewer possibilities...
