FROM REX TOLENTINO - A CAREGIVER
In your own words, what are your insights for yourself (things learned or reinforced after reading the proceeding of the Virtual Meet)?
I've learned that life has to be enjoyed no matter how we face the physical and psychosocial pain that this cancer has brought in my mom's life and to me as I had experienced that psychological distressed. Still life is beautiful because after this little "c", we will the Greatest "C" in eternal rest. I have now a clear acceptance that even the cancer may bring physical death...this is just a gate way to heaven...as I quote the Apostle Paul said..."For to me, to live is and to die is gain". ( Philippians 1:21)
What are your advices to other cancer patients?
Be brave to the extent that you are not closed-minded to accept if ever that you have cancer. Seek a support group from your family, relatives, and friends so that you can have a room where you will share your deepest thoughts, and feelings, your fear, and hope. Be guided accordingly with your trusted compassionate Doctor for they are sent from above - God uses physician to give healing that he wants for us. Lastly, life must go on, stay happy, optimistic, put anger into the garbage make peace with yourself, with other people and most of with God. Just keep the faith, he is the giver of life and the life itself.
What are your advices to caregivers or relatives of cancer patients?
To all caregivers: Let your love increase as you are taking care of your patient. Always express and show to them your sincere love and care. Always be at there side at all times...your presence means so much to them. They need someone to talk to, to laugh with happy moments and memories, to confide with you their important directives, and other things like these. Lastly, boost their morale, encourage them to continue their life amidst their agony. We cannot ease their physical pain and psychological distress but at a certain level, we can give a momentary relief from their sufferings.
Comments and suggestions on how to improve the next Cancer Crusaders Club Get-together:
Just one thing, maybe if possible have a dry run for audio, to do a soundcheck for the participants to make sure they have a clear, and loud or audible audio on their end so that we can hear it with quality.

In your own words, what are your insights for yourself (things learned or reinforced after reading the proceeding of the Virtual Meet)?
My overall insights of this online zoom 33rd cancer crusader's club held Dec 6,2020, I felt that Dr Joson's advocacy has given me encouragement to continue being connected with cancer fighting patients and also with those who have become a survivor like. I appreciate that I have found a good doctor who cares a lot for his patients. I hope to enjoy more of this get together reunion in the coming years. Thank you for being a part of this crusade.
Feeling healthy and stronger and looking forward for many more years to come
Whatever how pain it is, need to survive and have faith in God

that cancer is not a life sentence, it can be cured if detected early and with a competent doctor, and that life must go on.
How to accept the truth about our cancer that God has a reason why it happened to us.forget all the things that make us sad ,trust God always and enjoy life to the fullest🙏🙏
Seeing these testimonies made me reflect about the things that has happened in my life. It was really inspiring to hear it, and it strengthened me.
I'd like to salute Dr. Joson for the great effort he has done to make this virtual meet possible. All the technical aspect of the meet was his own idea and free will. From the smallest to niggeat details he was able to bring the essence of being a canvwr patients and on how to bring the best in every cancer patients. I was moved and brought me to tears to Mayvell amd hemother. I was able to witness their sacrifices but still it moved me. The love of a mother to her daugther. To dr joson hurray!. Thanks for giving the Crusaders a venue to make them shine. KUDOS!
Have to fight to reach my dream .and have to sacrifice and work hard for it.keep me strong and stronger
I am not alone in this journey
That virtual meet is a practical way of meeting other people nwar or far.
Accepting cancer and talking about it is therapeutic
Learn to face the reality
Hope & trust the Lord
Cancer not the end of my life. I was inspired those who share their journeys.
That I must be as strong as the others as we are a team against the big C. It's impossible to overcome all of these when you are alone.
Continue living to the fullest as if you have no cancer.Don't be ashame to tell other women that you are cancer patient .So that they too can create awareness about breast cancer.
The two most important aspects of a cancer journey are 1) faith in God and 2) acceptance of the presence of cancer.
The lack of resources is a big and sometimes insurmountable hurdle (E.g., mother and daughter patients).
It changed my perspective in life. It helped me realize that we can win the battle against cancer. Through our faith in God, having a good and compassionate oncologist, support from family, etc.
Resolved to continue the Cancer Crusaders Club to infinity and beyond and to advocate its formation by other oncologists.

Always trust our God
Fight for your fear
Life must go on be happy
Don't be afraid to fight your battle, many are rooting for you to win.
Have trust to your Doctor/Oncologist & most especially trust and have faith in GOD.
The patient needs to accept his/her condition and must arm himself with sufficient knowledge about the condition. The patient must try to achieve and maintain a positive and realistic attitude in life,
Immediately seeking treatment is important. Look for a doctor you will trust to give you good advice.
We can win the battle against cancer. Just have strong faith in God and in our oncologist, have strong support from our family and friends
See my ROJoson's Advices - very basic and essential

Please stay beside your patient throughout his/her journey because you wouldn't know when the battle would really end.
You have to serve them with much love , understanding & be patient to them.
Aside from the two aspects mentioned in the "insights for yourself," one must give the cancer patient constant validation that he/she is not and never will be a burden to the family and he/she will always be loved and remembered.
They too must rest and have tests.
Always be with the patient, in whatever road that he/she will take. Always be there to give whatever kind of support is needed, may it be psychological, physical, financial, etc.
Take care of your cancer patients - support them in their decisions - do not go against their right-to-decide decisions
Comments and suggestions on how to improve the next Cancer Crusaders Club Get-together:
Just continue to communicate with one another and share their ideas as well.
Notice all members earlier
None
Just one thing, maybe if possible have a dry run for audio, to do a soundcheck for the participants to make sure they have a clear, and loud or audible audio on their end so that we can hear it with quality.
Proper edits of audio videos and combine the video in one.

It is well-done and inspiring, Thank you Dr. Joson and to all those who are part of the Cancer Crusaders Club!
To improve on the cancer crusaders audio most especially the sharer. Clarity of the audio will help better understand what they are saying.
Group chat it's more communication to all patients maybe.
Can add more virtual activities next time around
Good audio recording. Make sure that audio is ear friendly.
Let's have better audio :))
We must have a group chat for those who wanted to share their journey
More sharing on cancer journey
It is very organised and very informative
I just want to say po that you are one amazing physician Doc Rey. You have really planned well for this, together with your great team po. I may not be present during this virtual meet but I have watched the videos and have seen that everyone has been a help or was helped by the other in some way. I personally enjoyed singing with you Doc the song My Way up to the last beat. (Only now that I get to understand the lyrics of the song since I don't really pay attention to it before thinking that it was really just an old song.) Thank you very much po for helping all of us in our journey. Things would have been different for us if we haven't found you Doc. Stay safe po and may God bless you more po. (Big hugs po :))
Exellent
I think a longer time allotment would help tremendously both in experience sharing and dissemination of information, like old, present and new developments in treatment and the advantages and disadvantages of the treatments available.
All speakers must have accurate subtitles. Some speakers did not speak clearly.
The get together was very informative. I look forward to attending the get-together next year! Thank you, Dr. Rey for coming up with a very inspiring activity such as this Cancer Crusaders Club Get-together!
Will improve the audio in the recordings particularly of cancer journey sharing by patients and also refine the open forum - 5 minutes free wheeling then mute everybody - raise hands for those who want to speak - so that we don't have a jungle of sounds
