Conchita P. Suria – as a ROJoson Cancer Crusader
Breast Cancer Survivor Conchita Suria Ms. Conchita Suria, from Quezon, had a breast cancer for which I did a modified radical mastectomy in 1987. Postoperatively, she received chemotherapy. A year after her chemotherapy, she got her first pregnancy (she was about 30 years old then) and then later another one. She is now 35 years in remission as of 2022. We both thank God for this long remission.
I saw Ms. Suria in December 2, 2012 during the 25th Anniversary of the MDH Cancer Crusaders Club during which she brought the laminated certificate of membership to the Cancer Crusaders Club which I issued in 1988. The certificate dated December 4, 1988 (the first time the Cancer Crusaders Club held its 1st Annual Christmas Get-Together). I remember that I just affixed my signature in 1988 without printing her name on the certificate. Ms. Suria treasured the certificate so much that she had her name placed on it, laminated it, and brought it to Manila to show to me when she was given an award for being a 25-year cancer survivor.
There has been studies in the past that showed upbeat attitude helps cure cancer. This probably applies to Ms. Conchita Suria.
