COVID-19 Pandemic Reflection

How does your response to the current pandemic help you explain one or more of the competencies you wish to develop? For example, how has this experience tested, challenged, or refined your lifelong learning skills? In what ways have you adjusted how you learn, given the new limits, new expectations, and new opportunities brought about by the pandemic? Regarding communication competencies, in what ways has the pandemic influenced how people communicate (formally, informally, etc.)? What are you learning about communication from observing other's and your own communication pathways? How do you foresee future communication practices influenced by the changes you see taking place? For problem solving competencies, how are you or others around you applying strategic steps to reach a particular goal?

You might also you describe each of your MBTI traits within the context of the pandemic. For example, if one of your traits is "feeling," how has this trait influenced your current response to others? How do you see it influencing your future plans to help others during this crisis?

Whichever competencies or high-impact experiences you choose to reflect on, you could answer the S.T.A.R.T. questions to guide your response, focusing your response on the particular competency in question.

  • S (start). What is the situation? (If communication is the competency, focus on how the pandemic is affecting communication, e.g., among peers, teaching and learning, organizations, etc.)

  • T (tasks). What is required, expected, or needed to address the situation? (strategically speaking)

  • A (action). What are you doing to address the situation? (personally speaking)

  • R (results). What results are you seeing or expecting?

  • T (takeaways). What are the "big ideas" emerging from your analysis?
