Following graduation in 1966 I volunteered and served in the U. S. Army from 1966-1969.
I retired from IBM as a Publications Purchasing Manager following a leave of absence (1969-1999) after rising through the ranks. I also retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Associate Commodity Manager in 2008. During my years of residency in Pennsylvania, I was also employed as a Housing Property Manager. I served on a number of local organizations: the Carlisle Area School Board, The United Negro College Fund, Carlisle Area OIC Board to name a few.
I married Malana A. McCloe of Pennsylvania in June 1966. Our union produced three children: Leland E. Scott III, Stephen M. Scott and Kimberly B. (Scott) Marquart (01/1978). From this marriage there are currently seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
I returned to the Atlanta area in the fall of 2008. I met, proposed and married Dr. Alice C. Cannon in 2010. Alice is a retired DeKalb County Schools Administrator and mother of twin daughters (Rylicia and Rylincia Cannon). Alice and I are Christians and members of the Tabernacle of Praise Church International (TOP), McDonough, GA. As retirees, Alice and I enjoy traveling, playing pinochle, fishing and various card or board games.
