Discovery policy requires that all Players planning an absence from posting of more than 5 days complete the following process. This ensures that every crew member is aware of the Leave and will not tag those characters who's writers will be gone for an extended period of time.

Discovery utilizes two forms of Leave:

LOA (Leave of Absence), for players who will be gone 6-30 days

ELOA (Extended Leave of Absence), for players who will be gone +30 days

All Characters on leave will retain their rank indefinitely. Characters placed in a LOA status will also automatically retain their assignment slot/position. Those placed in ELOA will have their assignment slot/position held only until the stated Return Date. Exceptions to this may be made (at the discretion of DSC Command) for ELOA's of more than 60 days. In any case where a character is removed from their assignment slot, every effort will be made to work with the Player to logically write in the change.
