Lt. Xylina Patras

Middle child of well-decorated fleet mastermind Admiral Nikos Patras and his gracious wife Elaina, who was famous for her dinner parties.  The children grew up in Greece, not wanting for anything, learning impeccable manners and refining expensive tastes.  Xylina (Lina) and her sibblings attended private schools and private parties, getting to know the higher-ups of Starfleet Command and their families quite well.  Lina worshiped her Papa, and she in turn was his secret favorite of the three.

She and her older sister Minerva joined Starfleet in their father's footsteps, while their younger brother Mikel concentrated on his family.  Minerva (Minnie) quickly moved up the ranks while immediately after starting Starfleet Academy Lina felt she had a large shadow looming over her.  Her sister easily passed test after test while Lina struggled.  Following just scraping by in a basic command course, there were accusations from her classmates that it was only her father's reputation that saved her.  A few left hooks and a broken nose later, Lina was approached by a young pilot that had watched the exchange.  It was found that Lina had a latent talent for flying.  She blew away her instructors, and she made a quick career move.  Her father privately made it clear he would prefer her out of harm's way, but publicly supported her.  Her sister looked down her nose.  Lina instantly fell in love with a new role: The Rebel.

Not quite wreckless, but far from cautious, she made a name for herself in and out of the cockpit.  Her flying skills should have moved her up the ranks quickly, but somehow she always manages to find a little trouble, even if she has to go looking.  Her Starfleet record has a few unexplained holes and gaps, and she has been reassigned several times.  Once a pained teenager, once Lina found her stride she became a social and outgoing individual.  While she isn't big on social castes, she still has a taste for the finer things in life.
