I guess you could call me a Trek Lurker. Or maybe trek is my Bruno, and we don't talk about Bruno. Regardless, I LOVE Star Trek, but I'm not a Star Trek encyclopedia if that makes sense - and believe me, I have devoted vast amounts of my cerebrum to trivial information.
I just like it. A lot. Maybe more than a lot, and that’s…A LOT. So, when I found out there were online Star Trek sim groups dedicated to my favorite time waster, I jumped on board. I did live online sims for a while and then I was invited to join a PBEM sim. I played a Scottish female engineer (In my defense, I was new to character creation AND was lazy for ideas at time.) I wrote for a few years, and then pesky real life got in the way, and then my little Star Trek ‘hobby’ slept for nigh over a decade.
Fast-forward many moons and I finally complete my master’s degree. I have now found myself with so much free time I don’t know what to do with it. (It doesn’t help that I work nights so there are times at 3am I literally have nothing to do because I’ve killed my circadian rhythm.)
Cue an impromptu search on Google and imagine my surprise that PBEM Star Trek sims are still a thing! There was much rejoicing! And so, I applied with Borderlands and was accepted by Discovery. Again, I was faced with the crushing decision of character creation…so what do I choose? … a Vulcan.
Some people just want to watch the world burn.
I am some people.
