USS Discovery
NCC-1798
Constitution-class Federation heavy cruiser starship ordered for construction in October 2210. The Discovery was designed with the specific intent of furthering exploration in the Federation's frontier. Just 5 years after being built the Discovery was recalled for a refit to the Mark IV specifications and reinstated in the fleet to serve a joint mission with the Vulcan science academy. Â
Being armed with the latest Starfleet/Vulcan technology, Discovery could tackle nearly any mission while operating independently, far in the frontier regions of the Federation's Delta Quadrant territories.Â
The last known communication from the Discovery was in 2321. The ship was assumed to be lost, with no record of crew or ship. Â
This is where our story picks up exactly 100 years later.Â
LCARS 10 (The screens are no longer as static as previous incarnations of the system and the color scheme has been changed to subtle greens and blues. See image. The CO's chair has 2 miniature LCARS displays which open from the armrests.)
Safety Restraints (Built into all chairs in major areas of the ship. Two retracting arms activate at the press of a button, emerging from the seat sides to harness the individual down for safety.)
Window/Holographic Bridge Screen Discovery's screen stretches across the entire front half of the bridge, providing a 180-degree view while integrating a digital display into the window to provide a status overview, video communications and custom readouts. The Window has titanium shutters to provide physical protection when needed.Â
Independent Power Systems (Protected power backups are located throughout the ship as a means of combating dampening fields, both natural and technological. Although not resistant to all dampeners, they are installed in systems that would benefit most: Bridge, Shuttlebay Doors, Brig, Astrometrics, etc).
Class 2 Holodecks (Not new technology, but still functions. (Class 3 is currently utilized and Class 4 is experimental)Â
