LT. JG Sera

Sera is the youngest child of T’Rel and Soren (deceased).  She hails from Lyr’Taya, an ancient walled city and home of the Lyr Zor, a highly insular clan from the southern continent.  What is known of the Lyr Zor by most Vulcans is that they are an ancient clan, known during the time prior to Surak as being secretive and militaristic and were utilized by some of the Royal Houses as spies and assassins.  They were one of the last clans to adopt Surak’s teachings, but in doing so devoted themselves to the most orthodox interpretations of his philosophy, espousing that emotions were not to be suppressed but eliminated.

She was raised in a rigid household, as her mother had chosen the way of Kohlinar – and her parents’ expectation was absolute devotion to logic and purging of emotion by all members of her family.  Sera failed at this most basic expectation and found herself barely tolerated within the family unit.  Her inability to completely master her emotions was a failure even though her education showed her to be a particularly brilliant student in the sciences.  

She had been accepted to the Vulcan Science Academy to study xenobiology.  However, before she was to leave her betrothed informed her that after careful consideration, he was dissolving the union as he felt they were ill-suited to one another due to her inability to uphold her family and clan’s standards.  This proved to be the catalyst for Sera’s application and acceptance into Starfleet Academy.

Sera, on the surface, is logical and stoic.  As she never left her home before leaving for SFA, and she is in many ways innocent and naïve.  She is quiet and dependable, but few really know her at all – and she is suspicious of her Vulcan brethren as she erroneously believes they are all like her family and clan and would find her defective at best if they came to know her at all.
