James Reasoner as Dana Fuller Ross.
Dana Fuller Ross is a pseudoniem. It is used bij different authors. James Reasoner is one of them, Noel B. Gersom another.
The American author James Reasoner (See picture) specializes in historical military novels, westerns, and mysteries. He writes under the pseudonyms "Mike Jameson" and "Dana Fuller Ross." He has written more than 240 novels. His spouse, Livia Washburn Reasoner, is also a prolific writer of westerns, mysteries, and romances. The Reasoners were each raised in Texas, and currently live near Azle, Texas. Perhaps Reasoner's bestknown work is the ten volume James Reasoner Civil War Battle Series, witch features the fictional Brannon family. The series is set in the town and county of Culpepper, Virginia, a major Confederate supply depot in
central Northern Virginia, north of the Rapidan River. James Reasoner has another series of novels set in the American Civil War era, "The Palmetto Trilogy." This series is set in South Carolina and revolves around the Tyler and Gilmore families. In addition to authoring the Walker, Texas Ranger books, he has written several volumes in the Wagon West series under the pseudonym of Dana Fuller Ross, this is a frontier series of 24 books, starring members of the Holt family, who went with the first wagontrain, heading to Oregon in 1837, and this great saga goes on to the year 1876. Then came 'The Holts, an American Dynasty.' These books continue the Wagons West Serie with 10 books and which tell the continuing story of the same Holt Family, on with their descendants up through 1941. Also two prequels were written about the Holt's family's early years in the first 15 years of the nineteen century: Wagons West: The Frontier Trilogy and Wagons West: The Empire Trilogy.
This last prequel has a very open ending, so maybe someday there will be another sequel. James Reasoner expressed in the beginning of 2010, in a mail to me that he had 'planned to write several more trilogies to close the gap between his books and the original Wagons West series, but that idea was scrapped by the publisher at the last minute, which caused those unfinished plotlines.' Further in that same mail he said: 'The chances of any more Dana Fuller Ross books being written are very slim. A different publisher is now reprinting the original Wagons West series. If that goes over well, it's possible that someday they might reprint my books as well and want me to continue the story. I really don't expect that to happen, but I can't rule it out completely. We'll have to wait and see.' (Quotes from an e-mail from James Reasoner on 26-03-2010).
James Reasoner uses al lot of pseudoniems, some of them are: Jim Austin, Peter Danielson (with Franklin King and George Warren and Hugh Zachary), Terence Duncan, Tom Early (with Elmer Kelton), Jake Foster, William Grant, Matthew S Hart, Justin Ladd, Hank Mitchum, I.L. Reasoner (with Livia L. Washburn), Dana Fuller Ross (with Noel B. Gerson), Adam Rutledge.
