Michael Shaara.
Michael Shaara was an American writer of science fiction, sports fiction and historical fiction. He was born to Italian immigrant parents (the family name was originally spelled Sciarra) in Jersey City, New Jersey, and graduated from Rutgers University in 1951, and he served as an airborne infantry officer in the Korean War. After his days as a soldier, he took to writing, and with his best known historical fiction novel: 'The Killer Angels' he won the Pulitzer Prize, and there was a movie made of: 'Gettysburg'.
Michael Shaara's son, Jeffrey Shaara, is also a very popular writer of historical
fiction; most notably are the two pre- and sequels he wrote to his father's best-known novel. His most famous is the prequel to 'The Killer Angels': 'Gods and Generals'. Of this book there is also made a movie: A movie with the same name as the book: 'Gods and Generals.'

Jeff Shaara, is a descendant of Italian immigrants, he was born in 1952 in New Brunswick, New Jersey (the name "Shaara" was originally spelled "Sciarra"). He grew up in Tallahassee, Florida, and graduated from Florida State University in 1974, with a degree in Criminology. From age 16, Jeff operated a rare coin business, first out of his home, then in a retail store. In 1974, he moved to Tampa, Florida, and eventually, Jeff became one of the most widely known coin and precious-metals dealers in Florida, and he also started writing books, and a lot of them become world wide bestsellers.
