The coach should encourage the parents of potential athletes to attend the preseason meeting.  The coach should review the risks inherent in his or her sport and inform the parents of the appropriate techniques taught and equipment used to minimize such risks.  Team policy should also be completely reviewed as outlined in the Beach District Athletic Manual.  All parents and athletes prior to participation should sign the Parental Statement of Understanding.  Coaches should not allow athletes who have not returned the Parental Statement of Understanding to practice following the preseason meeting.
